Why should you trust a random blog on the internet that discusses earning a role in sports communication? It’s because I have been in your shoes before.
My name is Jake Santo, and I am here to teach you the ins and outs of starting your career in sports communication. I was once in the same shoes you once were, hoping to earn a career in a passion I loved from a young age. I was a frightened college student, without much knowledge on how to navigate the world of sports. Since then, I have spent countless hours at the ballpark or on the pitch, living my dream.
I am a graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University where I earned a degree in Sports Journalism. I have worked for several sports organizations including the Arizona Diamondbacks, Columbus Crew, Pittsburgh Riverhounds, Phoenix Rising FC and Eugene Emeralds. These roles have ranged from public relations to stadium operations and several roles in between. Currently, I am enrolled at the Lundquist College of Business at the University of Oregon, earning my master’s degree in Business Administration with a focus in sports.
Since my early collegiate days, I had wished there was a resource that could have helped me when I was applying for internships and jobs while attending school. I did not know whether I would finally be receiving that dream interview. I wanted to know what skills I needed to show on my resume and what roles I needed to learn before earning that job.
I do not want anyone to have to go through the same struggles that I went through as a young sports professional.
Therefore, I have created this blog to help YOU!
I will teach you all my secret tips and tricks on how I have been successful in the sports communication field thus far in my career. Stay tuned for updated blogs in the coming weeks.
